ProGenosis took part to the Belgian Economic Mission to the US - June 2011 (07/14/2011)
Belgian Economic Mission to the US with Prince Philippe
This year, ProGenosis have taken part to the Belgian Economic Mission to the US.
This Belgian mission has been shaped up to be one of the biggest, with the federal government, Prince Philippe and ministers from the three regions. It was focussed on three different sectors in three different corresponding cities:
* New York
* Washington D.C.
* Boston.
The mission has kicked off in the Big Apple with a visit to Johnson and Johnson for a presentation on the future of healthcare. While in New York, a company visit to Pfizer, along with meetings involving the financial sector, was also scheduled. The regional ministers have discussed the possibility of hosting an investor breakfast to promote US direct investment in Belgium.
From New York it’s on to Washington, D.C., where the mission has coincided with the annual Bio-International convention (BIO 2011). Belgium’s booth have been officially opened by the Prince.
In Boston, several ICT and Clean-Tech companies have been visited, along with coordinating events at both MIT and Harvard.

The BHP TECHNOLOGY TO ELUCIDATE A COMPLEX EPITOPE ON THE EXTRACELLULAR DOMAIN OF CD22.
Analysis of structure-activity relationships in protein interactions is a critical component of R&D programs, with potential benefits for product developments and enhanced IP. Fine description or understanding of structure-activity relationships however are extremely difficult to attain for interactions involving large molecules, as for instance in the one involving therapeutic monoclonal antibodies with membrane receptors, where critical epitopes are often not well characterized. In a recent PEDS publication, (In PEDS , 1-10, 2010), the hybrid β-lactamase display methodology, developed by ProGenosis and named BHP technology, was used to elucidate a complex epitope on the extracellular domains of CD22, a specific marker on the surface of malignant B cells, in its interaction with an antibody. The study showed that the interaction involves at least 3 discontinuous regions of the CD22 polypeptide and confirms the suitability of the β-lactamase display methodology (BHP technology) for rapid characterization of antibody epitopes.

Our technology enables the three-dimensional reconstruction of domains and sub-domains of an antigen target.
The use of such reconstructed domains or sub-domains for immunisation purposes, rather than using the whole antigen, allows to focus the immune response against a preselected region of this antigen. The raising of antibodies directed against non-immunodominant or cryptic regions is made easier.
